But before Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar can complete their quest they must survive the deadly desert, supernatural forces, treachery, and the might of Rome. From the bamboo forests of China to the hidden city of Petra, from the lofty summits of Arabia to the scorching plains of Ethiopia, the Magi will battle their way to Bethlehem to unravel the secret of the star. But with blood and betrayal their constant companions, the Magi begin to wonder if they journey to destiny . . . or death?

I bought this to keep for holiday reading when visiting home and bored. Instead, I started reading it when I was waiting and then stood up on a date at a bar this week. Guess what? I'm glad that I was stood up! I can't put the book down and somehow know that reading this will be far more rewarding than my no-show date. It's somewhat stereotypical when we think of the Wise Men, 1 African, 1 Asian, 1 Caucasian or Arabic or Indo-European, you choose. It's a fun read.

imagine being there, and seeing and meeting the baby Jesus, and both Joseph ,and Mary.
We all follow our own star, when we get our calling.
The Epiphany by Paul Harrington is a must read. He had an amaizing way of pulling the reader in so you could feel the barrage of thrilling experiences. The character building of the three diverse individuals during the first chapters set the stage for suspense. Throughout the book a turn of the page seemed to lead to another twist of events which became more amaizing at each turn. The book is a quick read mostly because you can't put it down and if you do you find yourself getting up early the next morning to see where it goes next. I wish there were more books like this and wonder how the author can sleep with so many things going on in his head! Loved this book.
A bit of fantasy, a bit of history, and a superb understanding of heavenly miracles -- the author has weaved these into a magnificent story. We are led to follow the plot of this story just as much as the Magi were led to follow the star!
Hats off to Paul Harrington for drawing us into a world that is both hauntingly familiar and mystically strange with "Epiphany." His deep research into the peoples and places surrounding Christ's birth grounds us in history, and his storytelling breathes life into the magi and develops them into fascinating and engaging characters. We share in their suffering and joy as they follow the star on their epic journey through the ancient deserts surrounding the Holy Land. "Epiphany" is a great read and a gem of a story - bravo!
This was a new version of the 3 Wise Men. I enjoyed it even though the modern language threw me at first.

The descriptions were good. It would make a interesting movie, I'm sure.
a fresh take on an old story! Very cool story idea with good attention to detail. the character development is detailed and interesting. The story moves along quickly . Decently worth a look by fans of historical fiction.
EPIPHANY by Paul Harrington is a work of art. The novel is exciting, entertaining and very thougth-provoking. From the very beginning I was amazed at the amount of research and creativity that went into the masterful story. Until now I was content to know that there were three wisemen who brought the baby Jesus gifts. But all that that may have entailed never crossed my mind. Now the Magi have personalities and characters tried by endless devastating circumstances. And, as is true of all of us, they were made stronger through conflcit and bonded together as brothers. I was also impressed by all the foreshadowing of events yet to come in the early days of Christianity. Can a movie be far behind?
